SS NMR Sample Control System Overview

This section summarizes the overall system.

System Block Diagram.

• Spin Speed Control Units for multiple samples (typically 5); each has a PID-programmable drive valve, an optional valve for the bearing air, and readout of the spin frequency.
• Power Supply control and monitor for the +15V, +5V, -5V, and 24V power.
• Interface to actuators and rf switches, controlled by the spectrometer in a variety of formats.
• USB communication with a PC.

V2 System

• Control software for each Unit.

The System Block Diagram at the right shows the inter-relationships of the the components.

A plot of representative performance is shown below where the blue line is the spin frequency over 4 hours with a standard deviation under 0.3Hz.
